A Day in the Life at Jane’s Place: A Glimpse into Our Indoor Play & Learning Environment
Welcome to Jane’s Place Early Learning Centre, where every day is designed to inspire, nurture, and guide your child through the wonders of learning and play. From the moment you step into our doors, you’ll find vibrant spaces filled with joy, curiosity, and discovery—perfect for fostering growth and independence.
We’re here to give you a peek into a typical day at Jane’s Place, showing how our thoughtfully designed spaces and routines support your child’s development in a warm, engaging environment.
Morning: Welcoming Smiles and Gentle Transitions
Our day begins as children are welcomed into their rooms with warm smiles and open arms. Each room, from the cosy Possum Room for our youngest children to the dynamic Wallaby Room for pre-schoolers, is set up to cater to their unique needs.
Morning routines are about creating a sense of comfort and familiarity:
Possum Room: Infants start their day exploring sensory-rich toys and activities that encourage movement, like crawling or grasping objects.
Koala Room: Toddlers engage in simple group activities, such as songs and stories, helping build early social and communication skills.
Platypus Room: For 2-3-year-olds, mornings are for curiosity-driven play, with puzzles, art, and imaginative role-play.
Wallaby Room: Pre-schoolers begin their day with a mix of guided learning and free play, sparking their critical thinking and creativity.
Outdoor play often kicks off mid-morning, and our shared outdoor areas provide endless opportunities for gross motor development. Whether it’s climbing, running, or exploring nature in our sun-safe spaces, children are encouraged to take charge of their play while building physical confidence.
Midday: Nourishment, Rest, and Exploration
As the day progresses, mealtimes become an essential part of our routine. Freshly prepared meals and snacks, created in-house by our certified cook, ensure your child receives nutritious, age-appropriate food. We work closely with families to accommodate dietary needs, making mealtimes an inclusive and enjoyable experience for all.
After lunch, it’s time for rest or quiet play. Each room is equipped to provide a calming space:
Possum Room: Babies rest in a tranquil cot room, where soft lighting and soothing sounds help them recharge.
Koala Room: Toddlers transition to quiet rest, while those who prefer a shorter nap can engage in calm activities like puzzles or storytime.
Platypus and Wallaby Rooms: Older children can choose between quiet rest or participating in independent activities, respecting their individual needs and energy levels.
Once recharged, children are ready to dive back into play and learning. From creative arts to group problem-solving tasks, our educators guide children in exploring new concepts and expanding their skills.
Afternoon: Play, Growth, and Closing the Day
Afternoons at Jane’s Place are filled with opportunities for your child to continue their exploration, both indoors and outdoors. Our free-flowing spaces allow for uninterrupted play, encouraging collaboration and independence.
Here’s what a typical afternoon might look like in our rooms:
Possum Room: Babies engage in sensory activities like water play or gentle music exploration, fostering early development milestones.
Koala Room: Toddlers practice self-help skills during snack time and enjoy outdoor adventures, developing their curiosity and independence.
Platypus Room: Junior pre-schoolers build friendships and emotional awareness through team games or storytelling sessions.
Wallaby Room: Pre-schoolers participate in school readiness activities, such as early literacy games or hands-on numeracy challenges, ensuring they feel confident for their next big step.
As parents arrive for pick-up, educators take time to share highlights from the day, ensuring you feel connected to your child’s experiences at our Early Learning Centre.
